A bit of Progress...
It has been quite a while since I last posted on the blog but this was not due to inactivity. I have been working steadily on the paintings and have run into one obstacle after another concerning the background and foreground. Recently I decided not to use my initial idea of adding fabric as it gave a very soft, relaxed look to the images. As the overall idea deals with pain and solitude I wanted the pieces to look sort of uncomfortable for the figure rather than warm and inviting. I have worked out the details of the backgrounds but am posting a progress shot of the second painting as it is further along and the first still looks half way finished. The foreground still needs much work in both pieces but I am moving slowly as it takes many layers to hide the folds that have already been painted. Here is a photo of the second painting as it now stands.
