Some Progress

So, it's been a long time since I updated this blog and I don't really have any good excuses so I'll just get to the progress.  As you can see I'm still not finished this painting but it's getting there.  Originally I was going to have the figure lying on fabric similar to the other pieces from my senior show.  After seeing it start to come together I had different feelings about it.  While this painting does share a lot of the same characteristics as the others I didn't want to just fall back on what had worked in the past.  I'm in a different place then I was then and I wanted to say something a bit different.  I decided to paint over the fabric and place the figure on the surface of water.  I thought this would lend a sense of mystery as well as elevate the figure to something more than just a person.  As I began to work in the sky above I decided to bring in a little more drama by adding some storm clouds.  I still need to do a lot of work to connect the figure with his environment but I think it will turn out pretty nice in the end.  Here is a shot of how it currently looks.  Thanks for checking in...
